Looking back, one of the things that stands out most is how little of my career was actually planned.

I share some thoughts on what independence has meant to me — and the cost of it.

The interview also gave me an opportunity to reflect on the role boutique asset managers can play in developing future leaders. Smaller firms may not have the scale of large asset managers, but they can offer something equally valuable: meaningful responsibility from an earlier stage, exposure to the full investment process, and the opportunity to learn directly from experienced decision-makers and business founders.
