Beyond the Basics: An age of distraction (August 2026)

I wonder if we often enough take stock of how vastly our society has changed. Being fully emerged in this rapidly changing world, we very easily forget how we used to operate prior to having our modern technological toolkit. Through the option to interact with our smart phones almost 24/7, we find ourselves permanently connected to views from across the globe. This is drastically changing the way we think. Yet we often forget that social media are, in fact, designed to make money, and therefore are highly likely to contain biased news or hidden promotions. There is no “truth detector” for determining honesty or accuracy. The modern era provides information, but the quality of the information is suspect, and the quantity overwhelming.
